What We Believe

Drexel First Church of God is affiliated with the Church of God Reformation Movement, with national offices located in Anderson, Indiana.

The Church of God is a non-denominational, global movement of people, committed to making disciples of all nations. We seek to love and serve all people, beginning locally, then nationally and abroad.

IMPORTANT GUIDING PRINCIPLES

  • Unity of believers Salvation makes us members of the body of Christ. We believe that the church is composed of every person who has accepted Jesus Christ as Savior. We place no emphasis on joining a denomination or a local congregation, choosing only to commit our lives to Christ.

  • Holiness of believers All members of the body of Christ are to live a holy life. We believe that God's standard of life for all Christians is one of moral purity and godliness. We claim freedom from the penalty and burden of sin, when we accept to follow Christ.

OTHER CORE BELIEFS

  • The Lordship of Jesus Christ. There is one Lord, God's Son, Jesus Christ. He is the church's ultimate authority in all things. (Matthew 28:18)

  • The Great Commission. Each of us is called to teach and empower the world to make a difference by teaching other to follow the ways of Christ. (Matthew 28:19–20)

  • The Great Commandments. We are called to love God and love others in a manner that exemplifies God’s love for them. (Matthew 22:37–39)

  • The Holy Spirit's Work. God's Spirit equips believers with unique gifts that enable us to carry out the mission of Christ in the world. At the same time, the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in every believer (Galatians 5:22–23), which demonstrate the Spirit's presence within us.
